This book is another of Dick Lutz's natural history travelogues that mix his experiences on tours with abundant information about the natural and human history of the area he's touring.
It's hard to tell if|From Booklist|Lutz is an advocate of expeditions into the Peruvian section of the basin, positing that such trips provide income for indigenous people dwelling there as well as provide valuable financial resource
